WHAT
Latitude was a joint venture between FilmFixers and South African Tourism -with CNBC Africa as a broadcast partner. A weekly hour-long programme, the objective was to use the medium to promote the business of tourism in Southern Africa – which contributes 9% to our GDP. The format included field reports, studio interviews and footage uncovering the hidden treasures of the region. Latitude ran for a year, and was recognised for its impact on the level of awareness of tourism in Southern Africa.
WHERE
Latitude spanned the sub-continent – with careful logistics sending crews on road-trips the length and breath of this beautiful region. Whilst the focus was South Africa, the programme had a weekly feature covering neighboring countries – including transfrontier conservation and tourism development initiatives.
HIGHLIGHTS
Latitude was initiated by FilmFixers as an opportunity to drive the importance of tourism in our economy – and the role it could play in job creation, poverty alleviation and generally growing awareness of the industry.
We are extremely passionate about the industry, our country, and the impact that we can make in this regard. It also gave us more excuses to go out and explore – and learn new things about our sub-continent, including new locations, and interacting with more stakeholders who assist us in our business.
