Senegal Film Permit

If your crew is looking for a Senegal film permit, you stopped by the right place.

Film Fixers is dedicated to providing film crews with all the information they need to ensure the success of their production-have a look at what we know about Senegal.

In Senegal, film permits are authorized by the Ministry of Culture. Unlike many countries, Senegal uses a system that designates a permit per project, not per crew member-this reduces the clutter of paperwork and risk of misplacing individual permits. Typically, Ministry of Culture takes up to 7 days to distribute the film permit, and all that is required is a synopsis of the nature of the project as well as a valid yellow fever certificate. The cost of the Senegal film permit depends on the nature of the shoot as well as the outcome of negotiations between the authorities, the fixer, and local leaders. For this reason, we highly suggest coming to Film Fixers, as our local agents and contacts can ensure a smooth negotiation process.

Senegalese work visas are required if staying in the country for over 90 days. The application process is simple; applicants are expected to submit documentation including criminal history, recent medical certificate, valid passport, proof of identification, proof of employment contract, as well as a residential permit. This process is handles by the Ministry of the Interior. The permit is valid for up to two years if accepted. It is important to know that foreigners are able to reside in the country for the 90 days before receiving their visa, as they would be issued a receipt to act as temporary visa whilst the application is being processed

The film industry in Senegal is not known for its’ rigidity or consistency, and for that reason we must recommend that all film equipment should be brought from overseas or imported from nearby film hubs such as Nigeria. As far as talent goes, we would recommend the same, however there are many ethnic and indigenous groups to be filmed in their environment.

The Republic of Senegal happens to be a member of the ATA Carnet System, which makes travelling with equipment a lot easier with regards to duties and customs. We recommend allowing Film Fixers to handle this process on your behalf, as our local agents are able to ensure a smooth process.
