WHAT
Versus’ Series is a popular Dutch television programme where two celebrities complete tasks, competing against each other – often in tongue-in-cheek situations, but often featuring hair-raising stunts. South Africa was the location for filming the next ‘Jan Versus Geraldine’ production, featuring the beautiful Geraldine Kemper, and the effervescent Jan Versteegh. Film Fixers were appointed to handle all local production, location and logistics – including vehicles, accommodation and visas and permits.
HIGHLIGHTS
There were many highlights for this production. Definitely the opening episode which featured our intrepid competitors finding 26 locations on the newly-released Cape Town Monopoly board – a potentially-nightmare logistical exercise with all the permit and other logistical requirements – but all went smoothly without a hitch. Get out of jail meant a boat ride to Robben Island – a filming first here in South Africa….
The Truck stunt, which involved two massive trucks moving side-by-side along a narrow road with the contestats leaping from truck to truck, secured with innovative safety techniques. Road closures, angry fishermen – and civil disobediance in the area robbing us of our Police presence, meaning we had to man our own road closures on location. All went smoothly.
The Treasure Island stunt on Witsand Beach, with 80-ton crane and 20-metre scaffolding. And the angry fishermen……..
