Filming in Rwanda
Filming in Rwanda is a perfect location for filming with its easy access, low-cost local production costs, and incredible diversity of shoot options.

Weather:
The best time to film in Rwanda would be from May to August. These are the ideal months with minimal rain and heat.

VISAS AND PERMITS
Rwanda visas and film permits are authorised by the Ministry of Sports and Culture. This is a fairly easy process, it only requires a lot of paperwork and could be time-consuming – which is something that we do for you to make this process as painless as possible.
Visas:
The application of film visas and permits is done by filling out the Rwanda Film Permit Authorization Request. Again, we will undertake this process on your behalf to make this as seamless as possible. Film Fixers have established strong relations with the necessary parties, and we have developed the know-how to navigate and approach any difficulties.
Each member of the crew is required to have a Media Accreditation, which is applied for through a formal letter with details of the crew (passports etc) and details on all equipment.
The process can take between 15-30 days, or even up to 3 months, depending on the scope of the shoot.
Drone:
Flying a drone is legal in Rwanda, so long as the necessary paperwork is in place. Drones must be registered through Rwana’s Civil Aviation (CAA) through a local sponsor. Registration can take up to 3 months.

CUSTOMS AND EQUIPMENT
The country is not a member of the ATA Carnet system, and so crew will need additional permits to bring in film equipment from abroad.
Rwanda currently does not have a large selection of film equipment, so it makes sense to bring in your equipment on a temporary import permit, which is a relatively inexpensive process. FilmFixers will help you through this process, so you just need to focus on the production!

ACCESS AND AFFORDABILITY
Kigali International Airport is the primary international terminal in Rwanda.
Rwanda has some of the best city infrastructure in Africa, with well-maintained roads, and heavily monitored traffic to avoid huge congestion. The Rwandan government is continuously investing in roads, water transport, and rail transport. Kigali, the capital city of Rwanda, is a rapidly developing modern city with good road links with the rest of the country
